 Associate Veterinarian
Dr. Donald Kwiatkowski
Dr. Kwiatkowski received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Michigan State University in 1976. Before joining the Best Friends team 13 years ago, he was Wildlife Veterinarian for the State of Wyoming; owner of Alpine Animal Hospital in Alpine, Wyoming; owner of Southland Hospital for Animals in Taylor, Michigan; and an Associate Veterinarian at Allan Park Animal Hospital in Allen Park, Michigan. He has published over 12 articles in peer-reviewed professional journals.
His professional awards and honors include: Wyoming Federation Conservationist of the Year, 1990; Terra Alpha Environmental Technology Award winner 1988, USSR Endangered Mink Project Official Letter of Thanks (Estonia, Russia); and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Director’s Letter of Appreciation.
Dr. Kwiatkowski’s “pets” have included dogs, cats, birds and various wildlife. Currently he has one very active Yorkie Bichon mix named “Cheeto” who fills his house with excitement daily.
